El "past continuous" describe acciones o eventos situados en un tiempo anterior al presente, cuyo comienzo se sitúa en el pasado y que todavía no ha concluido en el momento de hablar. Dicho de otro modo, expresa una acción incompleta o inconclusa del pasado.
Se utiliza:
  • Con frecuencia, para describir el contexto en una historia escrita en pasado, e.g. "The sun was shining and the birds were singing as the elephant came out of the jungle. The other animals were relaxing in the shade of the trees, but the elephant moved very quickly. She was looking for her baby, and she didn't notice the hunter who was watching her through his binoculars. When the shot rang out, she was running towards the river..."

A Wonderful Afternoon

Hola a todos.  Les quería primero avisar que el dia jueves 16  DE ABRIL será nuestra primera clase virtual a las 10hs. ( ya que la semana próxima es feriado de Semana Santa. El link de la clase es el siguiente:    https://us04web.zoom.us/j/274278973

 Tienen que ser muy puntuales a la hora de conectarse ya que la clase dura solo 40 minutos. Durante ese tiempo mi objetivo es corregir las actividades que he enviado hasta el momento, así como también ayudarlos con las dudas que tengan acerca de los temas de revisión. También la idea es probar como funciona con tantos alumnos. Recuerden que se pueden conectar usando un Smartphone o una compu o  tablet. Cualquiera de esos dispositivos sirve. Si usan el celu recuerden que antes deben BAJAR LA APLICACIÓN.

En esta clase vamos a hacer revisión del tiempo verbal “PASADO SIMPLE”  del verbo “to be” solamente para ir recordando temas gradualmente. Primero como siempre enviaré una explicación para recordar.

Verbo to be en pasado
Como suele pasar en inglés por sus características sintéticas, el verbo to be tiene únicamente dos formas en pasado:
·         was
·         were
Atendiendo al sujeto con el que vayan, se usa una u otra forma. Aquí te dejamos todas las formas en todas las personas.
·         I was – Yo fui, era o estuve
·         You were – Tú fuiste, eras o estuviste
·         She/he/it was –  Él/Ella/ello fue, era o estuvo
·         We were – Nosotros fuimos, éramos o estuvimos
·         You were – Vosotros fuisteis, erais o estuvisteis
·         They were – Ellos fueron, eran o estuvieran

Oraciones negativas e interrogativas

Para formar las oraciones de este tipo, no haremos uso del auxiliar DID, sino que es el propio verbo To be el que se niega o pregunta a sí mismo:
·         Were you comfortable last night in the party? – ¿Estuviste cómoda ayer en la fiesta?
·         I wasn’t a good student. – Yo no era un buen estudiante
Ejemplos:
·         The cat was in the bed when the bell rang – El gato estaba encima de la cama cuando el timbre sonó.
